The Beauceron
The Beauceron, also known as the Bas Rouge or the Berger de Beauce, was developed in the 1500's, in France, to hunt boar. Later its adaptable and intelligent nature allowed it to be used to herd sheep. Its look is somewhat like the Doberman but it has a long tail and double dew-claws.
Height: 25 - 29" (63.5 - 73.7cm)
Weight: 66 - 85 lbs (29.5 - 37.9 kg)
Coat Type: It has a short flat coat, with fringes on the flanks, legs and tail.
Temperament: The Beauceron is loyal and protective. Obedience training will require patience but is strongly recommended.
Special Interest: The Beauceron was used to carry messages in times of war.
