The Berger Picard
The Berger Picard, also known as the Picardy Shepherd, is the oldest of the French sheepdogs, and is thought to have been developed during the 800's. It is rarely seen outside of France, but is seen frequently in northern France. The breed is about the height of a German Shepherd. It has a large head with a face not unlike a griffon's, a powerful muzzle, and well-spaced, upright ears.

Weight: 50 - 70 lbs (22.3 - 31.2 kg)
Coat Type: The semi-long coat is rough and tousled but not curly; it is usually fawn or gray in color, with white markings confined to chest and legs. It has a tough durable outercoat that is harsh to the touch with a thick waterproof undercoat.
Temperament: The Berger Picard can be defensive of its home territory, but is known to be an affectionate family dog.
Health Problems: Be aware of skin problems, such as eczema.
