German Wirehaired Pointer

The German Wirehaired Pointer, also known as the Deutscher Drahthaariger Vorstehhund, originated in Germany during the 1800's to retrieve game birds. It was a highly valued gundog with a variety of skills.

Height: 22 - 26" (55.9 - 66cm)

Weight: 45 - 75 lbs (20.1 - 33.5 kg)

Coat Type: The harsh wiry coat and the longer hair above the eyes and on the jaws distinguish this sturdy breed from the other forms of German Pointer. It has a harsh, flat outer coat which repels twigs and other debris.

Temperament: The German Wirehaired Pointer is active and responsive, yet sometimes aloof although not unfriendly.
