Glen of Imaal Terrier
The Glen of Imaal Terrier originates from Ireland, taking its name from the Glen of Imaal in the County Wicklow, where it was officially recognized in 1933, although its history goes back to the 1700's. This hardy, short long-bodied dog is a quick and silent worker, giving it a good advantage over its prey, usually badgers and rats. It was introduced to the USA in 1968.
Height: 14" (35.6cm) for dogs, 13" (33cm) for bitches
Weight: 30 - 35 lbs (13.4 - 15.6 kg)
Coat Type: The coat is of medium length, and the outercoat is harsh. The color is wheaten-colored, blue-gray, or blue-tan.
Temperament: The Glen of Imaal Terrier is a typical terrier, with a tenacious, cocky, courageous personality, but is nevertheless an intelligent, affectionate family dog.
