Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen
The Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen, also known as the Large Vendéen Griffon, descends from the Grand Griffon Vendéen which date to the 1700s in France. The Grand Basset was finally established as breed in the 1940s. Tall for a Basset, it was used mainly to hunt small game such as rabbits, and deer on occasion; it works well singly or in a pack. It looks very much like the Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen, except with longer legs.

Coat Type: The harsh-feeling outercoat is medium to long in length, and not silky or woolly. There is a thick undercoat. The standard color is white with markings of lemon, orange, tri-color or grizzle.
Temperament: The Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen is a good companion, being affectionate, although sometimes a little stubborn.
