Irish Terrier

The Irish Terrier, also known as the Irish Red Terrier, originated around the County Cork in Ireland in the 1700's. It is thought to be the oldest of the Terrier breeds from Ireland. It was used as a watch dog, a water dog, and a vermin hunter. Originally there were many black and tan dogs, but these colors were bred out, and the Irish Terrier now is red in color only.
