Pharaoh Hound
The Pharaoh Hound, also known as Kelb Tal-fenek, originated in Egypt from as far back as 3000 BC, where it was used to hunt gazelle. Around 1000 BC, the Phoenicians brought it to Malta where it was used to hunt rabbits. It hunts by both scent and sight. The dog remained in relatively pure state over the centuries, first attracting attention overseas only in the 1960's.
