Puli
The Puli, also known as the Hungarian Puli, came from Hungary as long ago as the 900's, where it was first used to herd sheep. The highly obedient Pulik (plural of Puli in Hungarian) have also been employed successfully as police dogs in recent years.
Weight: 20 - 40 lbs (8.9 - 17.9 kg)
Coat Type: The highly distinctive double coat of this sturdy breed is traditionally corded. They are sometimes shown in the USA with coats in the combed-out woolly form. Each of the cords has to be groomed separately. It comes in a variety of colors, from cream to black.
Temperament: The Puli is intelligent, responsive and obedient.
Special Interest: The Puli was trained to run along the backs of the closely grouped sheep it was herding.
