Pyrenean Sheepdog
The Pyrenean Sheepdog, also known as the Berger des Pyrénées, evolved during the 1700's in the Pyrenean Mountains in France. Its main job was to herd sheep, and it performed this job with the Pyrenean Mountain Dog that acted as the flock guardian. It recently has been recognized for its qualities as a companion dog.

Weight: 18 - 33 lbs (8 - 14.7 kg)
Coat Type: The coarse coat comes in varieties: a weatherproof long-haired variety (French expression is: à poil long), smooth-haired variety where the face has short hair (French expression is: à face rase), and the so-called goat-haired variety.
Temperament: The Pyrenean Sheepdog is a very active dog with energy to spare. It is easy to train and so makes a nice family dog.
