Spanish Mastiff
The Spanish Mastiff, also known as the Mastin Español, has been used to guard livestock in the hills of Spain since antiquity. The origins of the breed may lie with ancient mastiff stock brought to the region by the Phoenicians around 2000 BC. They have typical mastiff features of massive chest and broad head.
Height: Minimum for males is 30" (77 cm), and for females 28" (72 cm); there is no maximum, but good proportions must be maintained.
Weight: 100 - 155 lbs (44.6 - 69.2 kg)
Coat Type: Smooth hair on face and legs; medium, close body hair; various colors.
Temperament: The Spanish Mastiff is obedient, protective and intelligent; it is non-aggressive towards people but may be combative with other dogs.
