Tosa Inu
The Tosa Inu is also known as the Tosa Fighting Dog. This imposing dog is an ancient dog from Japan, but the modern day version reflects the Mastiff and possibly Dogue de Bordeaux additions to the gene pool. It is a modern fighting dog breed dating only from the 1860's. Now, it is used mainly as a guard dog.

Weight: 200 lbs (89.3 kg)
Coat Type: The Tosa has a short close lying coat, hard to the touch, which does not require a lot of grooming.
Temperament: The Tosa Inu is a potentially aggressive dog both to people and other dogs, to the point that it is not allowed in the UK. Clearly, it is a dog for only very experienced dog handlers. It is powerful, stoic and relentless.
Special Interest: Well-muscled, powerful jaws and solid teeth made this fellow a formidable combat dog in the days when it was allowed.
