Welsh Terrier
The Welsh Terrier was developed in the UK during the 1800's. It received a lot from the old Black and Tan Terrier before it. It was recognized by the Kennel Club in 1886, and was introduced to the USA two years later. It's job was hunting rats and it did so with enthusiasm.
Height: 14 - 15.5" (35.6 - 39.4cm)
Weight: 20 - 21 lbs (8.9 - 9.4 kg)
Coat Type: It has a hard, wiry, thick coat that requires hand-stripping twice a year.
Temperament: The Welsh Terrier is an active, playful dog.
Special Interest: The Welsh Terrier is sometimes confused with the Lakeland Terrier, but it has a broader flat head and distinctive coloration (black and tan preferred).
