The group Guardians of Rescue helps veterans deal with PTSD by linking them up with canine companions. The group picked up rescue dogs from Fort Bragg, N.C., and took them back to New York for months of intensive training — all part of a program called “Soldier to Soldier.” in which they pair shelter dogs with veterans suffering from psychological conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder. When they deliver a trained dog to a veteran in need, it makes it all worthwhile.
